new semester

the semester has begun, and my first assignment for illustration A is a drawing based on an article about the migling of sports terms in everyday language. hoorah! here were my two roughs i showed today.

the one above is based on the term "saved by the bell,"

and this was the one she really liked. "chalk talk," you can kind of tell

the kind of influence calvin and hobbes has had on meh.

What i really want to do is bust out a new style for the illustration, something

to catch the eye, or more like wrestle it to submission.... we'll see how that goes.

maybe too much lucha libre...nah.

OoO and i went to L.A. last friday as a kind of last hurrah before school, here are some pics from the trip, i went to check out some graffiti spots but wasnt too sucessful, but i cant say it wasnt a fun day.

this should be rare, a post with no pics. its just too late to scan and not wake anyone. anyway i was looking at this blog and two things popped into my head: A) it wasnt the best idea to try and commit to a blog right before finals due to the heavy workload and B) only ten posts! thats crap, i have tons more stuff to show than that. So from now on it will be hopefully a minimum weekly post, or i will be very sad.

On another note, GO SEE ....PAN'S LABRINTH! awesome is the only word i can think of.
Lately I've felt kinda out of it for a lot of reasons but also in the last few days i found some sources for inspiration in all directions. muy bueno para la salud.

Overall I like it and I think its good for a first try.

The great thing about finishing it was that it opened up a lot

of new ideas and directions and now I think I'll enjoy my

break a little easier. Please tell me what cha think,

Hola!

long time no posty. due to work and escuela there hasnt been a lot of free time, but here's what i've been up to since last timey.

I'm posting the good with the bad, all just idea and sketchwork, some work better than others.

the filth

Doodle i did on friday during art history lecture. Also thinking about an idea of identity of self my characters put out, I like them to declare something about what they are, he is the filth. I thought about what to have him holding up in his fingers, but you can fill it in, just think of something dirty and he'll pick it up. G'night
